Clean room, and simple, comfortable interiors

I had two breakfasts, both were a little disappointing. The first was salmon and scrambled egg, but it was (perhaps tinned) bits of salmon in the egg which was a bit weird. The next morning I tried eggs Benedict which had palmer ham instead of thick pink ham, which didn't taste or look right at all.

    Food was excellent

Room was very noisy due to busy traffic and roadworks outside bedroom window (on main road). Room was very warm during night but we couldn't open window due to traffic noise - room 3. Another guest got locked out of their room (naked) during night when going to the loo (?) and whilst wandering about randomly opening cupboards we saw them (through the spy hole) urinate in a bucket stored in a cupboard outside our room - we did inform staff the next day! They were eventually let into their room by the night porter.

The staff were very accommodating, extremely friendly and nothing was to much trouble. It had a very homely feel but the decoration and cleanliness was the same as a hotel. The room was clean and spacious enough for two and had all the mod cods that you would expect. The Dog and Doublet is situated in a country setting and close enough to avail of various activities on offer in any country location but close enough to Stafford if you wish to visit a city. I would also like to say how exceptional the restaurant food was both in the evening and at breakfast. The food was of and exceptional quality, excellently cooked and had a expansive choice. The portions were excellent value for money.booking a table is advisable and I am not surprised, we had a wonderful relaxing time and will return in the future. As we were well looked after by Shane, Elliagh and Christine.Thank you for your professional, yet warm welcome on our visit.

    Staff were very obliging.

Suggestions: tumblers in bedroom for use at night; duvet too heavy; some people might like to have tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel is in a great location, ideal for business in the stafford/stoke vicinity yet on the doorstep of some great countryside. The food and hospitality is excellent.

Staff are welcoming, room was excellent, the bar served fine ale and the breakfast was freshly cooked to order, want more do you want!

Lovely place with very friendly staff and a most pleasant overnight stay.

I got charged for a bottle of water brought to my room. Very petty, but irritating.

The staff could not do enough for us, a friendly yet professional group of people. The bed was the biggest bed we have ever slept in. Fantastically comfortable. The room was large and airy with everything we needed. The food is superb, first class. A great selection for evening meal and a well cooked full english breakfast delicious.

The room we had was over the kitchen fan and it was very loud until the kitchen closed, however fan noise did disturb us at various times through ot the night.Having said that we will still be going back.

Whilst the bedroom was fairly small, it was very comfortable and clean. The cuddly teddy in the room is a nice touch. We had a meal in the restaurant, which was excellent. Despite the hotel being in a small village just outside Stafford, both the restaurant and the bar was busy and lively. The prices for both the meal and drinks were very reasonable. Our stay was on a bed and breakfast basis. We both had a full English breakfast which was up to the same standard as our meal the night before. We would definately stay at the Dog and Doublet again.

The hotel is just off a busy road and therefore you do get some noise during the night. The bedroom was also quite warm.

My stay was for business only the staff / food was excellent and I would stay again in the future for business or for a weekend away. Could not fault this inn/hotel in any way.

The staff were very smily and helpful. The food and service were excellent. Location good for purpose and ample car parking.

Room very noisy on first night despite having asked for quiet room. Member of staff told me all rooms were quiet, and did not warn of loud noise from the bar - until 12.30am. I asked to be moved but no space available. Second night obviously less rowdy in bar and was fine after 11pm. there was no remote control for the TV and the newspaper I ordered never materialised, although they did send one out to get one on Day 1.

The booking was for my son, not for me, he and his partner said they have never been anywhere where the rooms the staff, the food, was excellent. The staff where all very pleasant with nothing too much trouble. Altho the menu was limited the food was outstanding. I would like to thank everyone at the Dog & Doublet for making my sons 40th birthday an absolutely unforgetable one. D Andrew.
